Plastics welding technology is based on a durable joining thermoplastic materials by means of heating and pressure, with or without filler. All the processes are operated when joined surfaces are in a plastic state. Polymer molecule chains combine with each other and interleave on the joining surface, and thus create a homogenous weld.

It is possible to weld plastics of the same type, e.g. PP and PP. In order to obtain high quality mechanical weld it is necessary to use the same plastic types with the same or similar relative molecular mass, density and plastic flow ratio. Plastics colour is no of significance.

It is possible to join together rigid and soft polyethylene.
Joining rigid PVC with acrylic glaze in the only exception. In this case weld quality is quite satisfactory.
